What GridMax is

GridMax is the Tertiary Control component of a microgrid control system. It produces long-horizon recommendations across all eight Tertiary functions defined by UFGS 26 37 13 Section 2.1.4.3: Energy Optimization, Grid Interaction, Demand Response, Fuel Management, Curtailment Requests, HMI and Visualization, Real-time Analytics, and Renewable Energy Forecasting. The Secondary controller and the operator execute. GridMax does not command equipment directly; it advises.

What GridMax is not
  • Not a tactical microgrid product.
  • Not a Primary or Secondary controller.
  • Not cloud-anchored in any component. There is no GridMax-owned cloud layer of any kind.
  • Not a one-off custom integration. The product is built to operate across the UFC 3-550-04 and UFGS 26 37 13 installation microgrid population.

Every GridMax compliance claim traces to a specific section of a specific document.

UFC 3-550-04

Resilient Installation Microgrid Design, Change 1, 6 January 2026. Chapter 3 defines eleven performance metrics for the resilient installation microgrid. GridMax addresses these within its Tertiary Control scope: nine of the eleven are present, one is partial, and power quality is not applicable by architecture, a Primary and Secondary control function.

UFGS 26 37 13

Microgrid Control Systems, February 2024. Defines the three-level Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary control architecture. GridMax provides the Tertiary Control component per Section 2.1.4.3, which enumerates eight Tertiary functions. All eight are implemented end to end.

MIL-STD-3071

Tactical Microgrid Standard, Change 2 Draft, September 2025. One of five supported protocol transports per UFGS 26 37 13 Section 2.3.9. GridMax operates as a Control Service per MIL-STD-3071 Section 4.9.2 at TMS-compatible installations.

The standards stack is locked. Scope expansion outside it requires primary-source justification.

Why it matters

UFC 3-550-04 codifies the resilient-microgrid design discipline for permanent installations: endurance, energy surety, N-1 contingency adequacy, operational visibility, cybersecurity, and grid-connected economic operation. UFGS 26 37 13 codifies the three-level control architecture that makes the design implementable. The standards exist; the conforming Tertiary Control product for installation microgrids has been an open vendor opportunity. GridMax is that product.
